Presenting.

  • Rooms are small so it is unlikely more than 15 people will be able to comfortably attend any one “session”.
  • So far we don’t have very many simultaneous sessions, so if there is something you’d like to present, or a topic you’d like to host for discussion, post it to the Sessions page. This is your opportunity.
  • Folks who can’t fit into a session will have to make their own fun, and this is again, part of the point.
  • Though some people may be checking out Friday (checkout is at noon) enough of us are staying over that we can have Friday afternoon sessions in those rooms, the lobby bar, or adjourn to a pub.

Checking In.

  • Please check in to the hotel as a member of the “Pause on Error” group. You may be asked if you want to make your room number available to other guests- so that someone could come to the desk and ask what room John is in and the folks at the desk will tell them your room number if you give them permission when you check in.
  • If you’re not staying at the hotel please check in with the front desk anyway when you first arrive, letting them know you’re part of the Pause On Error group.

The Schedule.

  • If you’re opening your room for a session, add your room number to the sessions page as soon as you check in.
  • For those borrowing a room, add the room number of the room you’re borrowing. Comments on the POE site have a lot of folks offering their rooms for sessions.
  • For last minute changes & spontaneous meetings please also post them to twitter with the #pauseonerror tag. This will be easy for folks to follow on phones, etc.

Recording Sessions.

  • If you want to record your meeting and upload it to your own site or to a public site like Vimeo or YouTube, that is cool. Here are a few things to keep in mind…
  • Not all presenters may want their stuff recorded, so please ask permission before you whip out your hand held in someone’s room. Some of the stuff people are presenting is getting presentedhere precisely because this is small, self-selecting audience. (ie: skunk works, beta, not for public consumption, not approved by my employer, etc.)
  • Some folks may not want to appear in your video; we may have folks from FMI coming and we don’t want to put anyone on the spot, so again, please be sensitive to this.
  • Andy Gaunt has offered to help folks with recordings. He has a lot of experience with this, so take advantage of it if you haven’t recorded presentations before.
